“Motivation is what gets you started. Habit is what keeps you going” Jim Rohn
We have all been there, we have just started doing something new and we are highly motivated to keep it up and fight through any difficulties we may encounter along the way. We feel great and wished we had started this sooner, the world is at our feet. Then something happens, something goes wrong and you’re right back where you started! Where did all that determination and motivation go?
The truth is you need to work on your motivation just as much as the task you are trying to achieve, for this you need a motivation plan and here is some advice on how to get started.
Read and listen to motivational material
Read or listen to motivational material everyday. You can find some motivational material online or at your local library. Just spend an hour a day listening or reading your motivational material each day and you will remind yourself each day to be focused and positive towards your goals.
Apply Motivation Everyday
It is not possible to stay motivated 100% of the time but if we put in the effort everyday to try and stay motivated we will have a lot more good days then bad and this positive mental attitude will carry over both into your work and personal life.
Live A Healthy Lifestyle
Exercising regularly will help your body to stay healthy and happy and will allow your brain to stay positive and focused more easily. Exercise releases chemicals in our brain which make us happy and positive and this will help greatly in staying motivated as motivation and an optimistic outlook go hand in hand.
Do Things You Enjoy
Doing things you enjoy will make you feel good about yourself and promote the positive optimistic way of thinking which is so vital to maintaining your motivation. When we do something we enjoy we are much more likely to succeed and this success carries through to the rest of our life and makes us feel more successful in general which helps motivation.
Remind Yourself Of Your Goals
You should know your goal in detail and should remind yourself of it regularly. You should know what you need to do to reach it and what will happen when you do. Your goal should be broken down into steps which you can see yourself achieving along the way. Work hard and focus on your goal, make it your mission to reach it and the chances of you achieving it are much greater.
The hardest part of doing something is starting so ACT. Look back on your completed milestones and remember what you have achieved already and what you can achieve.
